COLON CANCER PREVENTION AND AWARENESS PROJECT
GET TESTED. THIS ONE CAN BE CURED.
Colorectal cancer is the number two cancer killer in the United States and it strikes just as hard in women as it does in men. Yet, it is one of the most highly preventable and curable types of cancer when detected early. Even though the exact cause of most colorectal cancer is not known, it is possible to prevent many colon cancers. Following screening guidelines can lower the number of cases of the disease by detecting and removing polyps that could become cancerous, and can also lower the death rate from colorectal cancer by finding disease early when it is highly curable.
Bristol Hospital launched the Colon Cancer Prevention and Awareness Project in 2001 to educate people about the risk factors, signs and symptoms, prevention measures and detection techniques that could save the lives of people in the greater Bristol community. Funds raised will support the awareness of this Project and help provide access to help those who are un- or under-insured with their financial barriers.
