Elder Care Services & Geriatrics Medicine at Bristol Hospital
As part of Bristol Hospital’s Multi-Specialty Group, the geriatric medicine program is designed to coordinate care among older patients to ensure each aspect of their health care is addressed and coordinated.
Ma. Margarita P. Reyes, MD
is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in geriatric medicine. Her special interests include care of complex, frail and high risk elderly patients across multiple settings as well as dementia, delirium, urinary and bowel incontinence, frailty and polypharmacy, the presence of multiple medications leading to adverse drug reactions. She completes a comprehensive geriatric assessment paying special attention to functional status, goals of care, and quality of life for her patients.
Dr. Reyes works in partnership with primary care physicians, hospitalists, surgeons and other specialties to provide care for the elderly that is individualized, goal-directed and aids in the patient’s independence and quality of life. As a community geriatrician, Dr. Reyes practices in multiple settings including the hospital, clinic, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and patients’ homes.
Dr. Reyes completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and geriatric fellowship training at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines and is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Geriatrics Society, American Medical Directors Association and the American College of Physicians.
