Call for Artists
Bristol Health is seeking artwork for our new Medical Care Center waiting and patient areas. We have identified between 8-10 public areas for artwork, and 20+ patient areas, including hallways and patient rooms that will accommodate smaller-scale art.

Project Budget
Total project budget is $40,000 for all artwork, including framing and installation. Artists should expect compensation for large pieces in the range of $1000-$1500 (max. 8-10 pieces to be selected). Artists who submit should also consider donating a smaller piece to the Bristol Hospital Foundation, which will then be raffled off at a future event to raise money to build our new Emergency Center project.

About our Medical Care Center
The Bristol Health Medical Care Center is a state-of-the-art, three-story, 60,000 sq. ft medical office building. The MCC will house specialty service physician offices (cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, orthopedics, rheumatology and urology), laboratory space and physical and occupational therapy.

The Medical Care Center is the first major building in the city’s Centre Square project, and a significant investment in the greater Bristol Community. As such, we want to ensure it showcases our brand and communities.

About Bristol Health
Founded in 1921 as Bristol Hospital, Bristol Health is the new name of Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group, Inc. and our system entities, including Bristol Hospital, Bristol Health Medical Group, Ingraham Manor, Home Care & Hospice and Emergency Medical Services.
As a system of local and community-based services with a commitment to help people stay healthy for the long-term, Bristol Health is always looking to advance the health of our community by providing integrated, innovative and individualized care. Our mission is “Caring Today for Your Tomorrow.”

The project:
We are seeking photography and artwork by greater Bristol area/central Connecticut artists that reflects both our brand and our communities. Bristol Health Medical Group has a presence in Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, New Britain, Plainville, Southington, Terryville and Wolcott.

We encourage all artists from these areas to submit work for consideration. Ideally, artwork/photography should:
● Convey energy and health; vibrancy

Overall, we want artwork to have a cohesive feel and to complement the aesthetic of the surroundings, which features a two-story glass-paneled/windowed atrium.

Other details:
● Larger-scale artwork will be displayed on the first, second and lower level lobbies (however,
display space is limited as the building features many large windows)
● Smaller scale pieces will be displayed in hallways, patient rooms and offices
● Artwork may consist of any medium, although artists should be aware of timeline and
installation limitations

Timeline:
● Artwork to be installed by June 1 (building opens on June 10)
● To help us meet the deadline, preference will be given to existing photography and artwork
● Artists who submit concepts or proposals for new work must guarantee completion (including
framing) by May 25.

Submission process:
Email portfolios, with artist statement and biography to tmorrissey@bristolhospital.org and
dscalise@bristolhospital.org
● Include pricing information (which should include framing)
● Indicate which artwork or photographs you are proposing for this building
