Intense Care for Difficult Times

Adult Behavioral Health

When you’re suffering, it can feel like life will never get better. Don’t believe the lie. With the right care, treatment and support, you or your loved one can get through the dark times to find hope and healing.

24-Hour Monitoring and Treatment

The Barnes III Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit provides 24-hour care and monitoring for adults aged18 and older. This unit provides the most intense level of treatment for mental health and addictive disorders, including danger of suicide or other self-harm. We treat a diverse group of patients with a wide range of conditions and problems, including bipolar disorder, addiction and substance abuse, major depression and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia. Each patient’s care and treatment is tailored specifically for their needs, life experiences and issues. We respect your heart, mind and voice at all times and will tailor an individual care plan based on your specific needs.

What We Offer

Advanced Treatment from Experienced Specialists

Our multispecialty team works together and with you to create a treatment plan that works. With knowledge of and access to the most advanced and latest proven medications, techniques and treatments, our specialists will find the right combination to help you get on with living a fulfilling life.

Follow-Up and Support

As part of Bristol Health Network, we can ensure you have the follow-up treatment and services you need. We offer outpatient behavioral health care through our off-site Counseling Center and also work with professionals and organizations throughout the greater Bristol community to ensure high-quality behavioral health support.

Family Involvement and Support

When a loved one is going through a dark time, the entire family is affected. We work closely with families — with respect for each patient’s wishes and privacy — to help them understand their loved one’s condition and treatment and to prepare them for life after their loved one is released.

Part of the Bristol Health Network and Community

We work with other professionals and organizations to meet the growing and changing needs of the greater Bristol community and beyond. Our services include education and training to ensure high-quality mental health care is available for all who need it.

Experienced and Up to Date Treatment

Behavioral health care has changed dramatically through the years and can now help people who may have had low quality of life and even been institutionalized in the past. Our multispecialty behavioral health team is intensively trained and extensively experienced in the latest proven tools and techniques. We’re committed to continuous improvement.

Referrals and Insurance

Referrals can be made from community agencies, outpatient providers, home health agencies, families and managed care companies. Bristol Hospital participates in most insurance and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) networks. Bristol Hospital is also Medicare and Medicaid certified.
