H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu) Update
At Bristol Hospital we are committed to reducing the spread of infection. We are working closely with the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Bristol-Burlington Health District to monitor the status of H1N1.
For the health and well being of our patients, visitors, employees and the community, we encourage you to follow these CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of infection and remain healthy:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Avoid close contact with sick people. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
